Creative Incense Workshop in Japan

par Hiro NAKAYAMA

70.00

Creative Incense Workshop by Project Felicia » by Hiro who has been active as a Scent Communicator in New York and Singapore

Through the fragrant experience, we draw our consciousness to “sense of smell” which we normally use casually, we nurture our sensibilities and creativities. We will learn the scent education that conveys the importance of relationship among human beings, ingredients, and eco system in the natural world.

Incense is aromatic biotic material which releases fragrant smoke when burned. The term refers to the material itself, rather than to the aroma that it produces. Incense is used for aesthetic reasons, and in therapy, meditation, and ceremony.

What we’ll do:
Your nose will enjoy a ZEN-like feeling and your hands will remember your days playing with Play-Doh! This three-hour workshop lets you interact creatively and discover your ability to smell, feel, and connect with life and beyond. We’ll start with a 30-minute lecture, followed by 90 minutes of creative activity, mixing, and stirring of ingredients. You can shape your incense as artistically and playfully as you like, in both scent and shape. During the session, you’ll hear my scent stories over green tea and Japanese snacks. Ten years ago, I almost lost my sense of smell. Upon regaining it, I felt a new “joie de vivre” and started my project with the mission of sharing fragrant joy and bridging the world through fragrance.

1. Study the basics of incense
